Bio
Liz Wycherley (b. 1983) is a New Zealand ceramicist based in Titirangi, Auckland. Her practice operates at the intersection of sculptural object-making and collectible design.
Working primarily in raku-fired clay, Wycherley builds each piece through direct carving, excavating form from solid blocks of raw material without wheel or mould. The process is irreversible and unrepeatable. Every surface carries the visible record of the carving, the forming and the fire. No two pieces are identical.
Prior to her current practice, Wycherley co-founded Post Objects in collaboration with Simon Oosterdijk. Their work has been distributed internationally through SSENSE and included collaborations with CompletedWorks.
